I am a postdoc at the AI group of Wageningen University and Research. I am currently leading a community effort to create CY-Bench, a comprehensive benchmark for subnational crop yield forecasting globally. CY-Bench is a continuation of my PhD research on machine learning for large-scale crop yield forecasting. I am interested in extending the NAAMII portfolio to geospatial data covering research topics in agriculture, ecology, multi-hazards, climate change and food security. I am particularly motivated to create a sustainable and inclusive data ecosystem for agriculture and environment in countries like Nepal. This step could leverage citizen science and gamification technologies. AI and machine learning could then be applied to collected data (and existing datasets) to tackle some of the biggest challenges in food production and sustainability.
