NAAMII is the leading AI research institute in Nepal, established with the vision of improving people’s lives through scientific research and innovation. It has been contributing in the globally AI landscape, pushing its frontiers through world class research. NAAMII aims to foster a vibrant research and innovation ecosystem in Nepal through its three key divisions —Scientific Research, Education and Outreach, and Industry and Innovation. Our researchers are pursuing both theoretical questions in AI to push its boundaries and sectoral challenges in diverse fields such as healthcare, agriculture, fintech etc. We support universities to strengthen their pedagogy and AI education, advise government policies, and facilitate the translation of research into impactful products, driving both local and global advancements.

We are currently seeking talented professionals to join our innovative research project focused on developing low-cost AI-enabled ultrasound technology. NAAMII is the lead institution in the project that involves five countries (Kenya, Uganda, Nigeria, Pakistan, and Nepal).

This international research initiative aims to collect and analyze obstetrics ultrasound videos from 2000 pregnant women and improve AI models assisting healthcare professionals in pregnancy management decisions. The project duration is from November 2024 to October 2025.

Current Openings

1. Research Coordinator – Public Health

Role Overview:

Lead the coordination of clinical protocols, engagement of project members in implementation across multiple international sites.

Key Responsibilities:

· Coordinate clinical and technical matters across project sites in ethical approval, data collection, training and involvement of nurses, Gynecologists and Radiologists.

· Assist in developing and implementing research protocols.

· Ensure standardization of clinical procedures across sites.

· Develop quality assurance procedures, monitor data collection quality, implement quality improvement measures, coordinate periodic quality reviews and manage feedback systems for quality enhancement.

· Document, Apply and Manage ethical approval processes.

· Monitor project timelines and deliverables, coordinate between different stakeholder groups, manage risk assessment and mitigation, ensure efficient resource allocation, coordinate regular project review meetings.

· Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of theories, methodologies, and evidence-based approaches required to effectively develop, implement, and evaluate programs and projects throughout their lifecycle.

Required Qualifications:

· Master’s degree in Public Health, Healthcare Administration, or equivalent.

· Minimum 3 years of experience in healthcare project coordination and implementation projects.

· Strong understanding of clinical research protocols and ethics.

· Proven experience in coordinating multi-site projects; (international projects involving multiple countries is desirable).

· Excellent communication and leadership skills.

· Understanding of research ethics administration and experience with report writing and documentation.


2. Project Administrator

Role Overview:

Manage administrative operations and coordinate between various departments for seamless project execution.

Key Responsibilities:

· Coordinate with Finance, HR, and Procurement teams

· Ensure timely execution of project plans

· Handle institutional administrative requirements

· Maintain project documentation, assist in financial reporting and audits

· Manage logistics for project and organization as required

· Manage legal compliance matters

· Other tasks as assigned from supervisor for better efficiency and performance of project deliverables.

Required Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management, or related field

· Minimum 2 years of experience in project administration

· Strong organizational and documentation skills

· Proficiency in using Project Management tools such as Kanban Board based platforms

· Experience in research project administration preferred



3. Digital Health Data Governance and AI Infrastructure Engineer

Role Overview:

Lead the development of processes, installment, and maintenance of servers, GPUs, and data infrastructure for healthcare and AI projects while ensuring privacy and security.

Key Responsibilities:

· Develop, monitor and ensure smooth operation of scalable infrastructure for storing and managing ultrasound imaging data, clinical demographic information, and video data.

· Ensure smooth operations of the servers and safe access to designated users.

· Create and maintain guidelines on proper server usage and monitor its use and performance.

· Study and compile good international data governance practices and propose implementation suitably adapted for NAAMII and its projects.

· Study and recommend suitable infrastructure for data storage, remote access, GPU scheduling for multiple users who share the users.

· Implement shared resource management for building AI models while ensuring safe data access to designated users only.

· Develop and maintain data validation protocols

· Propose approach to ensure automated quality checks at various points of data flow and data integrity throughout.

Required Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field

· Strong background in server and data infrastructure and management

· Experience with healthcare data including medical images preferable

· Knowledge of data security protocols

· Understanding of ML devops and GPUs


4. Research Assistant – Level I

Role Overview:

Contribute to AI model development and analysis for medical imaging applications.

Key Responsibilities:

· Explore and analyze AI models, work with pretrained models, assist in model optimization, contribute to model documentation

· Support algorithm development, assist in code development and testing along with debugging and optimization

· Conduct data analysis and assist in research documentation

· Collaborate with technical teams, contribute to research documentation, assist in experiment design, support publication preparation, help maintain research records, Participate in research meetings

Required Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Computer Science, AI, or related field

· Strong programming skills

· Knowledge of machine learning algorithms

· Experience with data analysis

· Interest in medical imaging applications

· Experience with large datasets and research publication experience will be an advantage
