NAAMII is looking for a Partnership, Growth, and Outreach Manager (PGOM) responsible for: I) building and consolidating networks, partnerships, and engagement of NAAMII with various national and international organizations, universities, and industries; and ii) building a strategy for outreach and marketing to shape a brand that aligns with NAAMII’s vision and mission. The PGOM will work with the Director and board members of NAAMII to formulate a strategy for building new partnerships and consolidating existing ones across all the three major verticals of NAAMII: Research; Education & Outreach; Industry & Innovation. The PGOM will also develop a strategy to build NAAMII’s brand that includes a strong social media and web presence, highlighting NAAMII’s impact and executing it by leading a content creator and marketing team.

NAAMII is a leading research institute in Nepal working in Artificial Intelligence (AI), Applied Maths, Informatics and their applications in a broad range of fields related to society, such as healthcare. NAAMII’s vision is to be a world-class centre of excellence in Nepal that continuously betters people’s lives locally and globally. We aim to build strong research and higher education foundation in informatics, applied mathematics, and AI in Nepal. We have been conducting high-quality research, organizing the international Nepal Winter School in AI that has attracted participants from over 20 countries, and supporting industries in Nepal and abroad with our scientific expertise. Our three main divisions, Research, Education-Outreach, and Industry-Innovation, all work towards building a vibrant research & innovation ecosystem in Nepal and contribute to democratizing AI globally.
The Role
As a Partnership, Growth, and Outreach Manager, you will help drive new and innovative partnerships with funding agencies, research organizations, universities, and industrial corporations. You will develop and maintain a pipeline of funding opportunities; build and scale internal tracking, reporting, and opportunity sourcing processes; and manage the completion of concept notes and full proposals. You will develop and execute an outreach strategy to highlight NAAMII’s activities and impact through media and the internet, and ensure it reaches our stakeholders, potential funding bodies, and potential collaborators. You will need to liaise closely with Director and research staff in Kathmandu, and partners across the globe.
Duties & Responsibilities
Partnership
- Create a systematic, process-driven approach to build partnerships and manage relationships.
- Identify potential funding opportunities from funding agencies including government, industrial partners, and other entities.
- Identify potential collaborators for working together in any of the three verticals of NAAMII: research; education & outreach; industry & innovation.
- Identify and launch new programs and activities together with existing or new partners, that aligns with NAAMII’s vision and priorities.
- Support research and programs team in grant proposals writing, and pitch presentations for securing funds from potential partners.
- Create and maintain a database of potential funding, collaboration, and well-wishers.
Growth
- Find new channels of partnership and growth opportunities for NAAMII.
- Build and scale systems for relationship management, partnerships, and grants administration.
- Set up and contribute to NAAMII’s fundraising pipeline and track performance against ambitious fundraising goals.
- Develop, implement, monitor, report, and continually adapt/improve NAAMII’s engagement strategies, policies, and plans.
- Keep a great ongoing relationship with current partners and offer new ways to grow the partnership.
- Forecast, measure, and report the results of various projects with partners, including co-created and/or co-branded content promotions, lead sharing, and/or event partnerships.
- Design, develop, and establish necessary engagement (digital as well as non-digital) systems, infrastructure (hardware and software), and practice.
Outreach and Branding
- Develop high quality, brand-accurate core content for the organization, including one pagers, FAQs, standard pitch decks, templates etc., and lead all work related to maintaining and improving NAAMII’s website and social media presence.
- Work with research and programs team to develop a dissemination strategy for each research or program product, including identifying target audience and media outlets for dissemination.
- Build internal tools and processes for expanding, maintaining and prioritizing NAAMII’s outreach pipeline.
- Establish ambitious outreach and communication program to maximize funding and other collaborative opportunities; and to engage with large corporations, funding partners, smaller companies, individuals, and well-wishers.
- Support the identification of networking opportunities and attend networking events as requested.
- Develop & pitch ideas to potential funders, donors, and industry stakeholders with the guidance from the director and the board.
- Plan and organize logistics for research events, NAAMII’s annual Nepal Winter School in AI, training workshops, briefings, convenings, webinars, and conferences.
Profile
We are looking for an individual with (i) a strong drive to take ownership who enjoys creating content, developing strategy, and building networks, and (ii) an interest in maximizing NAAMII’s impact by building, managing, and scaling our partnerships, projects and programs.
Qualifications & Essential Skills
- Higher education (at least a Bachelor’s Degree) in digital marketing, and/or communication, media, management, international studies, information management, or development studies.
- At least five years of experience in customer relations, program/partnership development, business development, management, or in outreach & marketing, with a proven track record of accomplishment and impact.
- Outstanding communication, interpersonal, organizational, networking, representation, and relationship building skills.
- Strategic thinker with networking aptitude and attention to details.
- Self-motivated, self-starter who takes initiative and is creative about achieving their goals.
- Good written, verbal, and digital communication and presentation skills in English and Nepali.
- Supervisory, mentoring, team building, and motivational skills.
- High level of proficiency in IT, media, and communication software and technology.
- Diplomatic, able to negotiate and apply judgement in complex areas.
- Strong commitment to the mission, vision, and goals of NAAMII.
- Highly collaborative work style with the ability to operate as a peer and thought partner to the Director, other board members, and advisors.
- Experience of arranging events and meetings.
Terms & Conditions
Salary will commensurate with experience. This is a full-time post (for part-time exception see below) to be held at the Institute’s site in Kathmandu. Occasional travel nationally and internationally may be required to deliver the role.
Part-time: For candidates with exceptional skills and strong experience for this job, the role could also be part-time, with another option of adding this role or collaborating with another person in this role (Research Project Manager).
