As an AI Research Assistant at our lab, you will collaborate with a team of research engineers, AI scientists, and clinicians to develop cutting-edge deep learning algorithms for automated medical image analysis. This role offers a unique, hands-on research experience that aims to solve some of the most challenging problems in AI and push the boundaries of healthcare technology. You will have an opportunity to formulate and test hypotheses across various experiments and receive mentorship from industry experts to help translate your research into impactful real-world products.

We are seeking a Research Assistant (RA) who is passionate about developing the next generation of deep technological healthcare solutions to create a global impact.

What will you do?

  1. AI Algorithmic Research: Design and implement next-generation deep learning models, such as classification, segmentation, and landmark detection, to create world-class products. This also involves developing visualization tools and frameworks to make deep learning models interpretable.
  2. AI Algorithm Validation: Validate deep learning technologies for safety and efficacy at various stages of the product development lifecycle.
  3. Technology Translation: Collaborate with product, software, and regulatory teams to translate developed technologies into practical products for real-world application.
  4. Technology and Engineering Strategy: Conduct research on the latest technologies, including but not limited to AI, to provide strategic direction for product development.

The ideal candidate should have

  • Minimum of bachelor’s degree in engineering or computer science-related domains or having equivalent level of professional qualifications/experience.
  • At least 6 months of hands-on experience in deep learning or machine learning research and development related to image recognition and segmentation, which includes experience with dataset preparation, convolutional neural networks, optimization, hyperparameter tuning, model search, etc.
  • Experience in:
    • Language: Python.
    • Frameworks: PyTorch(Preferred), TensorFlow, Keras.
    • Libraries: OpenCV, Pandas, PIL, Matplotib, VTK etc.
  • Basic understanding and knowledge in:
    • Medical imaging processing.
    • Real-time model development and deployment frameworks.
    • Git and Git workflow.
  • Strong analytical thinking skills, innate curiosity, relevant interests, and creativity.
  • The ability to quickly read, understand, and implement concepts from academic publications.
  • A collaborative attitude and a willingness to learn.
  • Effective communication skills to explain complex ideas both verbally and in writing in English.
  • Previous internship or experience in early-stage startups is a plus.
